Look At London

Look at London explores London's history through pictures. Old pictures can show us how places have changed, what people used to wear or types of transport from the past. They can also help us see how modern London was made.

Each gallery has a theme which links the pictures together. You can explore streets, markets, crime and punishment, the river, village life and railways.

London is one of the greatest cities in the world. It is waiting to be explored - why not visit the areas featured on this site and take a fresh look at London today?

Keats House - Camden

The poet John Keats lived in one half of this house in Hampstead from 1818 to 1820. Keats loved Hampstead Heath. Being close to nature was very important to him. When Keats lived here he wrote some of his best poetry, inspired by the surroundings.
