Christ Church Spitalfields, viewed from Brushfield Street, c. 1830


This church in Spitalfileds was built by Nicholas Hawksmoor between 1714 - 1729. The church was built to combat the spread of Non-Conformism In the earkly eighteenth century Spitalfields was becoming a Huguenot stronghold. Many Huguenots did attend Christ Church.
