1604 - Representatives from the French and Dutch churches meet in a synod
<< Back

Queen Elizabeth has died. The colloquies of the French and Dutch churches send delegates to a joint synod. The purpose is to draw up a petition to the new king, James the First. They ask him to allow them to continue to worship and organize themselves separately from the Church of England. The petition is granted.
